Two ice skating rinks operated by the Trump organization will close in Central Park on Sunday at 4 p.m., as the city cancels its contract with the company. The decision to cut ties by the de Blasio government came after the riot in Capitol, CBS New York reported.
The lease agreements to the Wollman Rink and the Lasker Rink will be terminated on 26 February. The lanes will close Sunday to allow time for the Trump Organization to pull out.
Families turned down the move, with one skater pleading longer. “So many of us were taken away this year, and that was one thing that kept us all together,” Mya Henning told CBS New York. “We’re only asking for six more weeks.”
Eric Trump, the executive vice president of the Trump Organization and former president Trump’s son, issued a statement to CBS New York in which he said it was a political stunt that hurt New Yorkers. ‘
The Trump Organization will also no longer operate the carousel in Central Park, as well as a golf course in the Bronx. The Trump organization is appealing for the city’s decision to cut ties.
The city is looking for replacements, although it is unclear when a replacement will be appointed.
