Ohio reports 2,611 new cases of coronavirus, another 56 deaths: update on Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Health announced Saturday afternoon that the state has 2,611 new cases of coronavirus.

This brings the total number of cases to 952,306, which includes confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19.

A total of 16,749 people died from COVID-19, which is higher than Friday.

Between 06:00 on Friday and 06:00 on Saturday, according to the COVID-19 dashboard, another 45,153 doses of vaccine were reportedly administered.

The total number of people who have completed their vaccination now stands at 621,672, representing 5.32 percent of Ohio’s population. Most children are not yet eligible for the vaccine and some residents outside the state have been shot in the state for working here.

The state follows the definition of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which includes those diagnosed by genetic PCR or antigen testing, or people diagnosed in a clinical setting – who experience related symptoms with a confirmed COVID-19 case, among other criteria.

More than 110 million people worldwide have had COVID-19 or, and more than 2.4 million people have died from the virus.

More than 28 million people in the United States have had or had COVID-19, and more than 496,000 people have died from it.
