Donald Trump Jr. accused Twitter of targeting him for his conservative views and ‘spreading misinformation’ one day after false allegations that he was referring to Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott as a Democrat went viral.
Trump posted his response in a Friday video on Rumble, a video app favored by conservatives. He denounced the “selective interpretation” of his tweet to defend Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) from criticism for undertaking a trip to Cancun, Mexico, amid massive power outages and icy weather in Texas , and referred to the trip as a bit of a PR accident “on Friday.
The viral tweet criticized the ‘hypocrisy of those who tried to cancel Ted Cruz who was completely silent about their Democratic governor’s incompetence’, which many interpreted as a reference to Abbott. However, the tweet or an accompanying Rumble video does not refer to Abbott; the video appears rather as nameless democratic governors. In a tweet a few hours earlier, Trump criticized New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo while defending Cruz.
“All the people who always want to spread the wrong information and talk about such things seem to have no problem spreading the wrong information,” Trump said in the Rumble video on Friday. ‘I have a tendency on Twitter because it seems like people are referring to a video I posted yesterday and said if the people who were so angry about Ted Cruz for a little PR accident … would actually get angry about their Democratic governors. ‘
“I did not speak anywhere in the tweet or in the video about the Democratic governor of Texas,” Trump continued. “Because Greg Abbott, who’s a friend of mine, is a Republican governor of Texas. But I see it on Twitter because they can say that I’re generally referring to Democratic governors, that I do not know the difference between who now The state of Texas is not really going on. ‘
Trump has claimed that his tweet trend is ‘censorship’ and ‘selective interpretation’ aimed exclusively at conservatives, while offering to ‘show the photos of Greg Abbott and I if you need it’ to those who still have doubts about his relationship. . with Abbott. He also denounced Twitter ‘fact checkers’ for allowing misleading representations of the tweet to go viral. Twitter declined to comment Newsweek.
The new Rumble video was not shared by Trump on Twitter on Friday night. Although Trump is active on Twitter, he has regularly been critical of the platform, accusing the company as well as many users of an anti-conservative biased bias. His criticism grew after Twitter permanently banned his father, former President Donald Trump, days after the violent riot at the US Capitol on January 6.
