Husband takes selfie with pregnant woman and pushes her off the cliff for insurance money

A Turkish man allegedly pushed his wife off a cliff after taking a selfie only moments before.

The man was apparently collecting his wife’s life insurance, which he was trying to collect after her death.

The New York Post reports how 40-year-old Hakan Aysal and his 32-year-old wife, Semra, were on holiday in the Butterfly Valley in Turkey when the incident occurred. Semra was seven months pregnant at the time and died immediately after falling 1,000 feet.

The Sun also reports how prosecutors believe Aysal’s actions were a ‘premeditated murder’ intended to align its pockets with its life insurance policy. The total is 400,000 Turkish lira (about $ 57,000 USD).

Semra’s brother, Naim Yolcu, adds that his sister “always did not take out loans.” After she left, however, her brother-in-law took out three on her behalf.

“My family and I were destroyed, but Hakan did not even appear sad,” says Yolcu.

However, Aysal maintains that the death of his wife was a tragic accident. According to him, the insurance premiums were set up because of his love for extreme sports.

“I have been interested in extreme sports since 2014,” Aysal said. “Skydiving, bungee jumping, rafting – that’s why I had life insurance before I got married.”

Further investigation into the case remains pending.
