The duke was admitted to King Edward VII’s hospital in central London on Tuesday as a precautionary measure. Since Philip is staying in the hospital for a third night, there are apparently no plans for family members to visit him.
While patients are currently not allowed in the hospital due to the pandemic, Penny Junor believes there is no cause for concern with Philip’s hospital stay.
She said: ‘The fact [the family is] there is no good sign. I see this as very optimistic. ”
Me. Junor also said that the royal family tends to “play these things off and continue with their businesses”.
But if there was cause for concern with Philip, ‘the queen would certainly find a way to get there, and probably Prince Charles too’.

In December 2019, Philip was also admitted to King Edward VII Hospital as a ‘precautionary measure’ for an ‘existing condition’.
Me. Junor also told the BBC Philip is a ‘nothing-nonsense’ man who would not be an ideal patient.
She added: ‘I think he can be quite blunt and if he feels people are scurrying about him, he can be completely outspoken.
‘This is a man who does not want any fuss about his 100th birthday [on June 10], so the fact that he’s in the hospital and lifting him up will really irritate him. ‘
The Times reports that a doctor was called after Philip felt unwell for a short time, after which he was taken to hospital by car and walked in without assistance.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement on Tuesday confirming that the Duke had been admitted to hospital, saying: ‘His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London on Tuesday evening.
‘The recognition of the duke is a precaution, on the advice of the doctor of his royal highness, after he felt bad.
“The duke is expected to remain in hospital for a few days of observation and rest.”
After Philip’s hospital stay in 2019, Anna Hemming, former doctor of Buckingham Palace, recounted how Philip remained in good condition at the age of 99.
She said in 2020: “Prince Philip retired a few years ago and is thereby able to lead a more relaxed daily life.”
Referring to his athletic background, she added: ‘Sport has the benefits of keeping both your body and mind active.
“When it’s time to retire from sport, you can stimulate your thoughts on those interested in sports activities.
“Staying physically and mentally active plays a very important role in maintaining a healthy and continuous quality of life.”
