Erling Haaland will not be available in a short-term deal this summer, which is a blow to Manchester United and Manchester City.
The Borussia Dortmund striker has not yet spent 18 months at the Bundesliga club.
But he is already linked to pastures that are new as the elite circle of Europe.
The 20-year-old has scored 41 times in 42 games for the German team as he continues his rapid rise.
United were strongly linked with Haaland before swapping Red Bull Salzburg for Dortmund.
Their rivals City are also credited with interest because they see the striker as a long-term successor to Sergio Aguero.

Rumors about the release clause in his contract have been circulating, but it will only come up at the end of next season.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that its £ 65 million release clause can only be activated in June 2022, although it is a private agreement.
This reflects the words of Hans-Joachim Watzke, director general of Dortmund, who said last year: “No, there is no exemption clause in the summer of 2021 for Erling Haaland”
Fellow club head Michael Zorc has also addressed Haaland’s future in the past and insisted that he will be at the club for a long time.

‘We are planning for the long term with Erling. [Rumours] does not need to be dealt with at all, ‘he said.
“I will see him with us for a long time.”
Haaland’s father, Alfe-Inge, also previously weighed in on his son’s future plans.
While admitting to his son that he was happy at the Bundesliga club, he refused to turn off a switch in the future.
“Now he is happy at Dortmund, but Erling likes challenges and in football you never know. We will see,” he said.
