Bindi has been pregnant for a while now and she recently spoke to The Bump about the special nickname inspired by her late father, The crocodile hunter star Steve Irwin, who she and her husband Chandler Powell gave to their future baby.
Bindi explained that she and Chandler refer to their incoming newborn baby as ‘Baby Wildlife Warrior’ in honor of Steve.
“My dad was the first person to create the term ‘Wildlife Warrior,'” she explained. “To be a game warrior means to stand up and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.”
“We referred to our daughter as our Baby Wildlife Warrior. I know in my heart that she will make her own way to make our planet a better place.”
Bindi also opened up about how the baby naming process is going on between her and Chandler.
“We’re waiting to meet her before deciding on a name,” Bindi explained. “We want to hold her and make sure the name we choose fits her perfectly.”
“We went through the family history to me and Chandler’s family for family inspiration. Once she gets there, I think we’ll know exactly what to call her.”
No matter where they land, we are sure they will make the right choice.
