Freezing point in Texas raises 10,000 percent

While the winter storm Uri Texas in a freezer, the state’s energy infrastructure has left millions without heat, cultivating dangerous cold conditions and now a rise in energy prices.

CNN Business reports that electricity prices have risen by more than 10,000 per cent since major snowfalls caused widespread power outages.

Civil servants have noticed that a lack of overwintering of the power plants in Texas is at least partially to blame for the mass depletion, despite the fact that the state is known for its oil reserves.

Historical records says that the lowest temperatures ever seen in Texas were in February 1899 and again in February 1933 -23 degrees Fahrenheit. Later in 1956, February again recorded the largest amount of monthly snowfall for the Lone Star State, with 36 inches.

Earlier this week, there were some temperatures in the state it fell to about 13 degrees Fahrenheit in Houston. Temperatures have since jumped back to about 37 degrees, with people still surviving the cold without power.
