Elon Musk strikes Texas power grid operator

Tesla CEO Elon Musk slammed Texas’ electricity grid operator on Wednesday for being unreliable after millions of residents were left without power during a historic winter storm that brought record freezing temperatures into the state.

Musk tweeted that the state’s energy agency, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), “does not deserve R.”

In December, the billionaire moves from California to Austin, where he builds a new Tesla factory.

Meanwhile, Texans posted on social media that they slept in their Tesla cars to stay warm during the cold nights.

In 2019, Tesla released a vehicle with a ‘Camp Mode’ feature that allows owners to use the car’s climate control for more than a day without draining the battery.

“We had power for 6 hours last night. Our house has no gas, and our firewood is up. . . what are we going to do, ”one Reddit user wrote on the r / TeslaMotors forum.

‘So my wife, my dog, and my newborn daughter slept well in the garage. “If I did not have this car, it would have been a very difficult night,” the user added.

One Twitter user wrote: ” I slept in the Tesla LOL. Pretty comfortable. More importantly, warm. ”

Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas announced On Tuesday, he called for an investigation into the “anything but reliable” energy company after more than four million residents had to endure icy temperatures during the eclipse.

ERCOT said Tuesday night 600,000 homes and businesses’ electricity was restored, but nearly three million still had no power.

Officials did not give a clear timeline on when the power would be fully restored.
