Daughter of NY nursing home’s message to Cuomo: ‘We care, and we do blame you’

The daughter of a woman who died of COVID-19 in a nursing home in New York said she is one of several people who ‘deserve answers’ about Andrew Cuomo’s government coronavirus policy.

“We care, and we blame you, because from the beginning there were things that you did fail and could handle much better than you did,” Theresa Sari told Fox & Friends First on Wednesday. the governor.

WOMAN WHO MOTHER DIES IN NY NURSING HOME: GOV. CUOMO, OFFICIALS ‘MISLOOP MISLOOP’

“I understand that COVID did come through the staff in the nursing home, but that you could implement better situations for transfer,” she told Jillian Mele and Todd Piro.

Cuomo’s order, signed on March 25 and revoked in May, has drawn widespread criticism. The directive requires nursing homes to accept coronavirus-positive patients who are released from hospitals.

Sari’s mother, Maria Sachs, lived in a facility in New York where the first case of coronavirus was confirmed six days after Cuomo’s directive was signed, Mele said. Sachs began showing symptoms the next day and later died, ten days ashamed of her 61st birthday, she said.

Sari said the loss of her mother was heartbreaking, but that she will continue to fight for the answers she and many other families deserve.

“It’s really heartbreaking,” she said. “I tried to keep it together emotionally, just for the well-being of myself and my family, and also for my mother, just to stay strong.”

“I am going to speak out and let people know that there are families out there who are suffering and that we deserve answers,” she later added.

Sari also told how she wants her mother to be remembered.

“I want the world to know that she did not die in vain,” Sari said. “She was a very strong, courageous woman and I admire her so much.”

“The fact that she went through this tragic experience is heartbreaking,” she added. “But I promised her I would fight for her to the end, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

In a statement sent to Fox News in response to criticism of his response, Jack Sterne, a spokesman for the Cuomo administration, said: “The governor is committed to getting as many vaccinations in the weapon as possible while he continues to manage this public health emergency.

“New York went from one of the highest COVID positivity rates in the country to one of the lowest and delivered more than 2 million shots, including 92% of all first doses we received – that’s exactly why the vast majority majority of New Yorkers approve of the governor’s task of fighting COVID. “
