Bill Gates has made positive comments about Elon Musk’s effort to combat climate change, and the comment comes just after Musk Gates accused him of shortlisting Tesla (TSLA).
As we reported before, Musk and Gates do not always see eye to eye.
Gates had earlier made some remarks about electric trucks such as the Tesla Semi that are not viable, and Musk recently countered the comment, but he also added that he believes Gates at some point has a big short position over Tesla (TSLA).
Just a week after the claim, which was not confirmed by Gates, the billionaire had some good words to say about Musk and Tesla.
Gates said when asked about Musk on the Swing podcast:
It’s important to say that what Elon has done with Tesla is one of the biggest contributions to climate change anyone has ever made.
The founder of Microsoft also added that people should not underestimate him:
And you know, it’s not a good idea to underestimate Elon.
Did he learn it the hard way by betting against Tesla? We do not know, because Gates did not address Musk’s claim that he shorted Tesla.
The podcast was possibly recorded before Musk claimed the Joe Rogan podcast last week.
Tesla was sometimes the most shortened stock on the Nasdaq, and people betting on the electric carmaker lost $ 38 billion in 2020 alone.
Electrek’s Take
As I said in the original report on Elon’s assertion, I do not think Gates is the kind that Tesla lacks, but you never know.
He did not comment on it, but as I said, this podcast could have been recorded before Elon’s claim.
It’s interesting that he said he should not underestimate him, but I will not read much about it.
