The family said the 5-year-old girl who was injured during an accident involving Britt Kid, former coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, woke up from a coma 11 days after the accident.
“Ariel is awake,” the girl’s cousin, Tiffany Verhulst, shared on a GoFundMe page Monday to cover the 5-year-old’s medical expenses.

No further details about Ariel’s condition were immediately available.

Ariel was one of two children injured during the February 4 car crash near Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. The other child did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
Reid is still being investigated for driving while disabled. He is not currently facing charges.

Reid told officers he had two to three drinks and that he was on a prescription from Adderall at the time of the incident, FOX 4 Kansas City reported earlier, citing police documents.
Police said the investigation into the crash would take at least a month, the station reported. The results of blood tests to determine if Reid was disabled were expected to last about four to six weeks.

Reid, the 35-year-old son of Chiefs coach Andy Reid, has been placed with the Chiefs for administrative leave for the duration of his contract, which has expired, and he is no longer an employee of the team, ESPN reported last week.

The NFL released a statement to newspapers last week about the incident involving Reid.
“We are particularly concerned about the young girl, her family and the others who were injured,” the NFL said. “The matter will be reviewed in accordance with the NFL’s policy on personal conduct. We will continue to monitor the developments and once law enforcement has completed the investigation, we will address this issue and take any appropriate action.”
