NFL Rumors: Bears are ‘Precursor’ to Eagles’ Carson Wentz, but One Big Issue is Trading

Lovely home Chicago?

Not if Carson Wentz has his sense.

The Philadelphia Eagles are buying the 28-year-old quarterback and are linked in trade rumors with the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts.

SI’s Albert Breer appeared on Colin Cowherd’s podcast on Monday to explain where things stand. For NBC Sports Philadelphia:

‘I think Chicago is the forerunner … and I know there’s a feeling in the building of Ryan Pace, of the coaching staff, Matt Nagy, John DeFilippo. […] they believe, mechanically, they can fix him. … I think the problem now, Colin, is where Carson Wentz wants to go. I think it’s become pretty clear he’d rather go to Indianapolis, and I think part of that now is for the Eagles: ‘Well, if our best return is Chicago over Indy, then we need to convince Carson Wentz, it’s is the only place you go, and you have to do and accept it, and realize that the Bears are going to give you a good chance. ‘I think it’s pretty clear at this point that the Bears pushed harder than the Colts to get Carson Wentz. … I think the Bears at least want to know that Carson Wentz is on board before they pull a trigger in a trade. ‘

Pro Paul Network’s Tony Pauline reported last week that ‘sources’ say the Chicago Bears are currently the frontrunner in acquiring Wentz in a deal. However, do not discount the Indianapolis Colts or San Francisco 49ers. ”

His report comes one day after Ron Jaworski, the legend in Philadelphia, said that the Colts have made the best offer so far for Wentz. According to Jaworski, the offer was two choices from the second round ‘and maybe a third or fourth (round choice) along the way.’

As Mike Kaye of NJ Advance Media reported a week ago, the Colts have asked for additional compensation – a player, player or choice – with Wentz to get closer to the Eagles’ claims, according to a person with knowledge of negotiations, which were granted anonymity. The person said another irrelevant Eagles player was brought into discussions.

There is also a feeling that the Bears are getting impatient, another person with knowledge of the trading market told Kaye. According to the person, the Bears believe the Eagles overvalued Wentz.
