According to a press release from Queensland police, authorities found human remains inside the 13.8-foot crocodile in Queensland, Australia, on Sunday while searching for a missing fisherman.
Investigators have captured and killed two crocodiles amid a search for the fisherman, 69-year-old Andrew Heard, CNN reported.
According to officials, Heard was last seen around 3pm on Thursday. He had planned to fish on Hinchinbrook Island and would return home about an hour after his departure, but he never returned.
Police, Coast Guard and Queensland Department of Environment and Science officials have been searching for Heard ever since.
On Saturday, investigators discovered that human remains were believed to be in the Heard’s investigation area, according to the Sunday statement from Queensland police.
Later that day, Department of Environment and Science officials captured and killed the 13.8-foot crocodile. They found human remains inside the creature after a death search, Queensland police said.

According to the press release, the authorities believe that the remains are Heard’s.
Officials also captured and killed a second crocodile on Sunday, CNN reported. The inquest into the 9.8-foot crocodile was not yet complete at the time of writing, but it appears the animal was involved in the incident.
“At this stage we can only confirm that we found human remains in the first place,” Andrew Cowie, the acting inspector of Queensland police, said at a press conference on Monday, as reported by CNN. “I believe we involved the two crocodiles.”
Cowie further said that both crocodiles were captured in the vicinity of Heard, and that officials also found a damaged boat in the search area, which according to CNN is also being investigated. “This is a tragic incident,” Cowie told the conference.
Heard’s disappearance is the third crocodile attack in Queensland in the past month, as The Guardian reported.
