A car fell off the I-205 bridge Sunday, the sheriff’s naval patrol in Multnomah County investigated

A car fell Sunday night off the Glenn L. Jackson Memorial Bridge into the Columbia River, conducting a search by the Marine Patrol Unit of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle was discovered, but divers did not enter the water to search at 8:25 p.m., Portland Fire & Rescue spokeswoman Tremaine Clayton said.

The vehicle was glo suid reis on the scope of Interstate 205 connecting Oregon and Washington. Sheriff Spokesman for Multnomah County Sgt. Brandon Pedro said the marine unit was sent to the center bridge of the bridge.

The icy weather and snowfall that swept across the Portland area led officials from Oregon’s Department of Transportation to request motorists to stay home Sunday. Agency officials advised motorists to monitor TripCheck before venturing on icy roads.

The National Weather Service predicts overnight hail in the Portland area.
