Charles Martinet wants Mario to vote in a new movie

Like every other big video game franchise right now, Super Mario is being turned into a big screen movie.

If you were wondering if the voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, the iconic plumber in the upcoming CGI movie, will interest you, read on. In the words of Charles, Nintendo has apparently not been contacted by Nintendo of Illumination at this stage.

“Well, it sounds like a great thing, it sounds like a lot of fun and if they invite me to play, I’ll go play with great joy and happiness.”

“It must be a lot of fun, you know, everything that touches lighting seems like it’s fun and so does Nintendo.”

If this is the case, production may not have succeeded in making decisions yet. Having said that, it seems like Hollywood also has a habit of replacing voice acting for video games with movie celebrities.

Just earlier this week, for example, Jack Black was announced as the voice of Borderland’s Claptrap. The character’s original voice at the time said it was a “crushing disappointment” to miss the role, but wished Black all the best.

The Super Mario CGI movie will be released in 2022. Nintendo is proactively involved in its creation and Shigeru Miyamoto is on board as co-producer.

How would you feel if Charles did not pronounce Mario in the upcoming movie? Do you still think that in this version he will be cast on the big screen as the voice of Mario? Share your thoughts below.
