“If you’m lucky, you can … ‘This is the phrase that is most Pokémon GO players are familiar with. Niantic uses this phrase a lot when announcing new events, mainly about Shiny Pokémon appearing for the first time. “If you’m lucky, you may encounter Shiny Miltank!” When this line was used for Pokémon already released as Shinies, some speculate that Niantic intends to increase the Pokémon’s Blink rate during the event. “If you’m lucky, you may encounter Shiny Lotad!” In a recent blog post announcing Valentine’s Day Event 2020, Niantic sparked new speculation when they wrote “If you’m lucky, you may encounter a Fairy Bash!” Upon reading this, fans worldwide began to wonder … do Niantic break balls?
Here’s the thing. Feebas is an excellent Pokémon. I personally like it. It has an increased Shiny rate, its Shiny is nice and it develops into the graceful Milotic, which is an amazing Pokémon with a niche PVP usability. What Feebas is widely known for, far more than the good qualities, is the former track of 10 KM eggs.
Not too long ago, the Pokémon GO community teeming with Feebas memes. Do you have a bag full of 10 KM eggs that are hatching? Better get a fish bowl. Feebas was the undesirable breeding of 10 km, because it was common, which was known among players. Players thought they were being listened to when Niantic, after also hosting Feebas on several occasions in the wild, removed Feebas from 10 KM Eggs.
So, I wonder and many other coaches, would it be happy about meeting Feebas in nature? Of the other Pokémon that appeared in the event, Feebas is the one we could happily meet? If it’s happy, what happens if we’re unhappy !?
Now, it looks like Niantic is trolling. The recent events are overwhelming and it may be a reference to it, but I doubt it. Instead, I think this “If You’m Happy …” speaks of a rift between Niantic and the Pokémon GO community. I think it speaks to the community not being listened to or observed enough. It speaks of a shrinking understanding of Niantic about what players want Pokémon GO.
I hope I’m wrong because I love it Pokémon GO and a common remark I see on my reviews of their events is that I am too pro-Niantic. This is because in the past I felt like Niantic had their finger on the pulse of what the Pokémon community wants. Now, it would seem that they have lost their way. Hopefully they can start listening again and get a thorough understanding of what is missing, how to get their course going and what players really want. I believe they can make Pokémon GO the wonderful game it can have.
If we are happy.
