The animation was done by Mainframe, who created the animated film, and the credits say that the feature was produced in 2019. But PlayStation has confirmed to IGN that Life of Pie is not related to the upcoming PS5 game and not canon.“Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie is a standalone, licensed animation special created and distributed by Mainframe Studios,” said a PlayStation spokesman. “The app is not related to the upcoming Ratchet & Clank game for PlayStation 5 and is not an official canon for the franchise’s video game story.”
Mainframe Studios is the same production company that created Ratchet & Clank: The Movie, which itself was a connection to the PlayStation 4 Ratchet & Clank game (which, according to IGN’s review, is fantastic).
The movie itself does not reach the highlights of the video game, but if you enjoyed it, there is now another mini-feature on Crave available for your viewing pleasure.
But if you’m excited about Ratchet & Clank’s PS5 outing, the Life of Pie will unfortunately have no secret Easter eggs for you. Ratchet & Clank: However, Rift Apart is coming soon on June 11, 2021. And no, we do not yet know the name of the mysterious new Lombax.
