Microsoft Teams is one of the most popular alternatives to the video conferencing app Zoom, with 115 million active users daily. Microsoft reported a 50% increase in user numbers in October, reflecting the sector’s wild growth over the past year as the coronavirus pandemic forced people to connect with co-workers, family, friends and colleagues via video chat services.

Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the cause of the outage and when it was expected to be resolved.
