PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A passenger plane slipped off the taxiway at Pittsburgh International Airport on Wednesday.

Officials say about 6:30 p.m., a Delta Air Line plane – flight number 2231 – departed for Atlanta with 77 people on board “from a taxiway” before taking off near Runway 10R. Officials say no injuries were reported.

Buses were sent to the plane and all 77 people were transported to the airport terminal and to the airport around 21:40.
Passengers said they were in the plane for three hours as first responders tried to find the best way to get everyone out because the plane was tilted upwards.
The airport remains open, and there is no impact on other operations.

Delta Air Lines issued a statement saying:
‘While the taxi was leaving before departure, Delta Flight 2231 from Pittsburgh to Atlanta left the trampled surface. Delta teams worked with the airport authority to transport customers safely back to the terminal. We apologize to our customers for the delay and inconvenience and are working to accommodate them again as soon as possible. ”
Delta provides another plane for passengers that will take off at around 12:30 on Thursday.

Weather conditions were not ideal during the impatience. The National Weather Service reported that light snow fell at the time. They also reported foggy and foggy conditions, as well as a quarter mile of visibility.
