Hi, remember how Instagram posted a few weeks ago some tips on how to create great Reels content, and within the tips it kind of hinted at the fact that it does not really like users to their TikTok clips to post. Rules?

See point 2 – “Share original content created in the Reels camera”
Well, clearly the letter was too subtle for some, because today Instagram released some new Reels advice, which contains a more explicit warning about repositions.

Yes, Instagram not only clearly advises posting content that is ‘visibly retrieved from other apps’, but has also updated its algorithm to rank such posts on the Reels and Explore tab.
Instagram confirmed the change to The Verge and explained that:
“We build on what we learned from Explore to recommend fun and entertaining videos in places like the Reels tab, and to personalize the experience. We are getting better at using rankings that help us predict whether people will find a pulley entertaining and whether we should recommend it. ‘
So Instagram says that users do not like all the TikTok re-shares, and therefore they want to eliminate them by locating visible watermarks and poor-quality (ie vague) shares. You can still share it, as Instagram notes, and it will still be seen by your followers. But if you want to reach a larger audience with your Rules, you probably would not want to duplicate the TikTok clips.
Of course, the most likely statement here is that Instagram prefers not to promote TikTok within its own app, as opposed to users complaining about it, or becoming less involved in these re-shares. But maybe Instagram is right – TikTok re-shares usually have lower video quality, and this can cause people to link less with them.
Either way, the advice is clear.
If you’ve planning to maximize your Reels cuts, here’s what Instagram recommends:

Just make entertaining and fun cuts, it’s not that hard.
Yes, it’s not always that easy, and it’s definitely a challenge to come up with ‘entertaining and fun’ content consistently. But if you want to use Rules in your approach, these tips and guidelines provide more parameters on what to focus on, and how to approach your efforts.
