“We come down hard on people who provide false information on the passenger tracking form,” he said, according to the Evening Standard. “Anyone who lies on the passenger tracking form and tries to hide that they were on the ‘red list’ the ten days before their arrival in a country will be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.”
Hancock said residents of the UK and Ireland should buy a ‘quarantine package’ from the places on the government’s ‘red list’ from Monday that costs $ 2400 per person and covers accommodation, virus testing and other items.
There are 33 countries, including South Africa, Portugal and the whole of South America, from which travel to England is effectively banned, mainly due to concerns about new variants of the coronavirus.
Hancock made headlines last week when he said in an interview that the 2011 film “Contagion” influenced his approach on how to best execute the COVID-19 vaccine in the UK.
