CBS All Access will change to Paramount Plus on March 4, but you may not see it if you own a second or third generation Apple TV. The company has announced that it will not update its app for the devices when the streaming service resumes next month, as seen MacRumors.

The announcement makes CBS All Access / Paramount Plus the latest service for set-top box support. YouTube has announced that it will drop support from next month, while HBO dropped the outdated streaming box last year. The second-generation Apple TV is more than a decade old (it was launched in 2010), while the third-generation version was released in 2012, so it’s understandable that we’re starting to see a wave of outdated programs.
However, users will still be able to stream Paramount Plus to older Apple TVs using an iPad or iPhone, so they will not be completely out of their content.
Unlike the more recent Apple TV models (from 2015 onwards), which feature modern software and an App Store that make it easy for developers to keep updating their applications, the older Apple TV models have generally only saw updates for individual power applications Apple has updated the entire operating system – these days it is becoming increasingly scarce.
The demise of the CBS app on older TVs is not the only change causing the Paramount Plus transition: 9to5Mac also notes that the company no longer offers its discount CBS All Access and Showtime bundle to Apple TV Plus subscribers.
