“Tight where?” Tessica Brown asked TikTok a week ago before the world became aware of her struggle. “My hair,” she finished.
And it’s been tight for over a month now as Brown continues to fight against what has so far turned out to be an irreversible decision: to mistakenly use Gorilla Glue to hold her hairstyle.
‘My hair has been around for about a month now. It’s not my choice, no, it’s not my choice, ”she says in the video, which is now seen by more than 20 million people and explains how she came to stick her hair to her head.
‘If I want to do my hair, you know, finish it off with a little Got2B spray, do you just know how to keep it in place? Well, I did not have Got2B spray anymore, so I used it, ‘she explains, taking a look at the super-strong adhesive Gorilla Glue – commonly used for materials such as metal, stone and wood – which according to the company site, ‘forms a clear, permanent bond that is moisture resistant’.
“Bad bad bad idea,” Brown exclaims. “Never use it unless you want your hair to be that way forever.”
Although the saga was partly captivating and partly frightening to spectators, Brown does not look so amused. In a video uploaded to her Instagram on Thursday, she hits Pantene Pro V on her head and demonstrates how stubborn her hairstyle is. ‘Look, you wipe it off and nothing happens. This is the life I live at this point. This is the life I think I should live, ”she says before bursting into tears.
Excursions to the emergency followed to help Brown get rid of what she calls her ‘forever a ponytail,’ plus drugs like coconut oil and tea tree oil. Some have even suggested that she go ask for legal action, although this has not yet been confirmed.
Her fans include Chance the Rapper, who tweeted: ‘I could have told shorty that I did not know she had put one of the world’s most powerful adhesives in her. [hair], ”And author Roxane Gay, who simply said: “I pray for her scalp. But look, [shake my head], you do not have a case. ‘
Plastic surgeons and hairstylists offered their services for free to help. On Saturday, Brown appeared in two separate videos on social media – one on TikTok showing how she, as a nurse, hesitates, puts acetone cloths and sterile water on her head, with a song with the repetitive lyrics “Oh no, oh no, oh no, no, no, no, no, ”plays in the background; the second on her Instagram is Molly Kate Kestner’s God Save the Prom Queen on a montage of Brown in the ER. It is unclear if any intervention worked.
I’m glad mfs is actually supporting her through this. When I watched the video for the second time, it was hard to laugh because I could tell shorty that I did not know that she had put one of the world’s most powerful adhesives in her shit. I hope she recovers well 🙏🏾 #gorillagluegirl

Gorilla Glue said it was very unfortunate to hear of the incident and that they were happy that Brown was going to seek treatment, but in the end it was said: ‘This is a very unique situation because this product is not indicated for use in or on hair as it is not considered permanent. Our spray is on the warning label ‘do not swallow. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. ‘”
