Snapchat introduces a new feature that will remind users to remove unwanted connections from their contact list. The feature, called ‘friend check’, will encourage users to trim their friends list in the app with a notification saying ‘Snapchat is for real friends’.

By clicking through the notification, users can go through their Snapchat connections and remove people they no longer want or need to connect with. The feature will launch for a few more weeks, but the company is now looking at the update to promote the safer Internet day.
This is not a new sentiment for Snap, which has long described itself as an app aimed more at close friends rather than at a large social graph. But it’s the latest way the company is trying to distance itself from Facebook, which is still struggling with how features such as groups have sparked a massive disinformation crisis.
