Orange County reported 1,028 new cases and 30 new deaths as of February 5 – Orange County Register

The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 1,028 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday, increasing the cumulative total in the country to 236,338 cases since detection began.

The agency reported 30 new deaths, bringing the total number of people killed by the coronavirus to 3,279.

The province also reported 1,233 patients in local hospitals, which is 5 less than the previous report. There were 342 patients listed in the intensive care units on Friday, a decrease of 23 people from the previous day.

It is estimated that 14,821 cases of the virus have been recorded in Orange County in the past 14 days.

According to the provincial update, 2,748,226 tests for the coronavirus have been given since testing began locally, with at least 15,006 new tests since the previous report.

Of the cumulative 3,279 deaths reported by the virus, 857 were competent residents of nursing homes, 359 in care facilities, one was a prisoner in the OC and five were listed as homeless.

The data on deaths in the country are compiled from death certificates or collected through the course of case investigations and it can take weeks to process. The most recent death was recorded on January 24th.

The province’s death rate by age is as follows:

  • 17 and younger: 0.03% (1)
  • 18-24: 0.18% (6)
  • 25-34: 1.10% (36)
  • 35-44: 6% (72)
  • 45-54: 6.56% (215, higher 3)
  • 55-64: 13.21% (433, higher 3)
  • 75-84: 23.76% (779, 12 higher)
  • 85 and older: 33.82% (1,109, 9 higher)

It is estimated that 195,526 people have recovered from the virus since Friday. The number of people who recovered is based on the previous cumulative case of 28 days.

The data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials stressed. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
