February 5, 2021 (Children’s Health Defense) – As of January 29, 501 deaths – a subset of 11,249 total side effects – were reported to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Vaccine Reporting System (VAERS) following of COVID-19 vaccinations. The numbers reflect reports submitted between 14 December 2020 and 29 January 2021.
VAERS is the primary mechanism for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the US. Reports submitted to VAERS must be further investigated before confirmation can be made that an adverse event has been linked to a vaccine.
As of January 29, approximately 35 million people in the U.S. received one or both doses of COVID vaccine. So far, only the Pfizer and Modern vaccines in the US have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use. According to the FDA’s own definition, the vaccines are still considered experimental until they are fully licensed.
According to the latest data, 453 of the 501 deaths reported were in the US. Fifty-three percent of those who died were male, 43% were female. The remaining death records did not include the gender of the deceased. The average age of those who died was 77 years, and the youngest death of a 23-year-old. The Pfizer vaccine was taken by 59% of those who died, while the Moderna vaccine was taken by 41%.
The latest data also contains 690 reports of anaphylactic reactions to the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. Of these, the Pfizer vaccine accounted for 76% of the responses and the Moderna vaccine for 24%.
As The Defender reports today, a 56-year-old woman died in Virginia on January 30, hours after receiving her first dose of Pfizer vaccine. Doctors told Drene Keyes’ daughter that her mother had died of flash-pulmonary edema, which was probably caused by anaphylaxis. The death is being investigated by the chief medical examiner’s office and the CDC in Virginia.
Last week, the CDC told USA TODAY that based on ‘early safety data from the first month’ of COVID-19 vaccination, the vaccines’ are as safe as studies have suggested it would be ‘and that’ everyone who had an allergic reaction was successfully treated, and no other serious problems appeared in the first 22 million people vaccinated.
Other reports of vaccine injuries updated on VAERS this week include 139 cases of facial asymmetry, or symptoms of Bell’s paralysis, and 13 miscarriages.

The states that reported the most deaths were: California (45), Florida (22), Ohio (25), New York (22) and KY (22).
The number of Modern vaccines associated with most deaths was: 025L20A (20 deaths), 037K20A (21 deaths) and 011J2A (16 deaths), 025J20A (16 deaths). For Pfizer, the lot numbers associated with most deaths were: EK5730 (10 deaths), EJ1685 (23 deaths), EL0140 (19 deaths), EK 9231 (17 deaths) and EL1284 (13 deaths). For 135 of the reported deaths, the lot numbers were unknown.
The clinical trials have suggested that almost all the benefits of COVID vaccination and the vast majority of injuries are related to the second dose.
While the VAERS database numbers are sobering, the actual number of adverse events is likely to be significantly higher, according to a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. VAERS is a passive surveillance system that relies on the willingness of individuals to submit reports voluntarily.
According to the VAERS website, healthcare providers are required by law to report to VAERS:
- Any side effects listed in the VAERS table with notifiable post-vaccination events that occur within the specified post-vaccination period
- An adverse event listed by the vaccine manufacturer as a contraindication for further doses of the vaccine
The CDC says healthcare providers are strongly encouraged to report:
- Any adverse event that occurs after the administration of a vaccine that is licensed in the United States, or it is now clear that a vaccine caused the adverse event
- Errors in the administration of vaccines
However, ‘within the allotted time’ means that reactions that occur outside the time period may not be reported, in addition to reactions that are suffered hours or days later by people who do not report the reactions to their healthcare provider.
Vaccine manufacturers are expected to report “all adverse events that come to their attention” to VAERS.
Historically, less than 1% of the side effects have been reported to VAERS, a system that children’s health services have previously called a “failure”, including in a December 2020 letter to Drs. David Kessler, former FDA director and now co-chair of the COVID-19 Advisory Board and President Biden’s version of Operation Warp Speed.
A critic familiar with the shortcomings of VAERS has directly condemned VAERS in The BMJ as’ nothing but window decoration, and part of the systematic effort of the US government to assure / deceive us about the safety of vaccines ‘.
CHD calls for complete transparency. The Child Health Organization is asking Kessler and the federal government to disclose all data from the clinical trials and to suspend the use of the COVID-19 vaccine in any group that is not adequately represented in the clinical trials, including the elderly, debilitated and all with disease conditions.
CHD also calls for full transparency in post-marketing data that reports all health outcomes, including new diagnoses of autoimmune diseases, adverse events, and deaths from COVID vaccines.
Children’s Health Defense asks anyone who experiences an adverse reaction to any vaccine to submit a report according to these three steps.
