PHOENIX, AZ – According to provincial officials, Maricopa County did not receive any doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine from the Arizona Department of Health this week.
Maricopa County uses the Pfizer vaccine at its POD locations in the valley.
The province says they have just enough doses of Pfizer on hand until Feb. 12 to keep appointments at PODs. They even added that they can not cancel any appointments.
“Everyone realizes that this is a shared supply problem that we need to solve together. ADHD has committed to making the Maricopa County POD’s current operations work by providing doses on the necessary basis from the supply,” said provincial officials.
According to the province, they have received 20,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine distributed to pharmacies and other health partners, and they are working on the logistical daily redistribution between the state and the province.
“Meanwhile, public health continues to focus on planning more events using Moderna vaccine and providing local pharmacies to serve those in Phases 1A and 1B Prioritized,” the province added.
All this as Arizona reached a new milestone on Friday. The state administered more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine than people who tested positive.
Arizona will soon report 14,000 deaths in the state related to COVID-19, according to state data from the Arizona Department of Health Services.
ADHD reported an additional 196 deaths on Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to just 13,000 to 13,948.
ABC data analyst Garrett Archer found that the state had 22 days in the past month with a death rate of more than 100, and 11 of them more than 200.
