The San Francisco 49ers and Santa Clara County announced Friday that Levi’s Stadium will soon become “the largest vaccination site in California” with the goal of vaccinating 15,000 people a day.
According to the team, the site will be launched “early next week” and will initially have the capacity to vaccinate 5,000 people a day. The ramp will first take place before the vaccine supply increases.
Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles currently serves as a mass vaccination center with the ability to vaccinate 12,000 people a day as supply increases. At the opening, Mayor Eric Garcetti said it would be ‘one of the largest in the country, if not the largest in the country’.
In a news release announcing the new website, 49s team president Al Guido said the organization was “proud of a partnership with County Santa Clara to bring this vaccination site online as quickly and efficiently as possible.” “
