The fever dreams of a scenario in which Kirk Cousins is not the quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings in 2021 are starting to get hot and heavy. The other part of the fever dream, at least for some, involves DeShaun Watson, the star quarterback of the Houston Texans, coming to Minnesota for a bunch of concepts.
If this news is an indication, it does not sound like one of those things is happening.
“There are credible NFL people with whom I texted 24 hours ago, who believe Kirk Cousins will end up with the San Francisco 49ers.”

Darren Wolfson of KSTP has confirmed that there are real NFL executives out there who believe Cousins will end up in San Francisco one way or another.
Wolfson then says he believes Cousins will be the Vikings’ full-back next season.
He also points out that Watson has a complete non-trading clause in his contract and apparently would not be willing to give up to facilitate a trade to Minnesota. And honestly, that makes a lot of sense, given the offensive scheme the Vikings operate. As we have seen, the Vikings, even with dynamic wide receiver connections (Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs and now Thielen and Justin Jefferson), are still one of the toughest offenders in the NFL, and Watson who does not want to come here makes sentence.
Given this data, the Cousins rumors at this point are nothing but hot air. The Vikings have no reason to trade Cousins unless they get a definite upgrade on the other side. . .And if Watson does not come to Minnesota, then who are they going to get, is it definitely an upgrade?
Nobody, that’s who.
I’m sure the Cousins rumors will continue as the Cousins haters try to bring about something like this. But as things currently stand, the chances of that happening are not very good, and the chances that DeShaun Watson will be in the press soon are apparently even worse than that.
