Sia said she had “already listened to the public scream” about the film in which Maddie Ziegler appeared as an autistic teenager. Sia’s tweets came on the heels of the film and garnered two Golden Globe nominations.
One of the biggest surprises during the Golden Globe nomination ceremony held on Wednesday morning was the inclusion of Sia’s upcoming directorial debut film “Music”, with her muse in the lead role Maddie Ziegler as an autistic teenager.
The film was poorly received by many critics (currently at 29 percent Rotten tomatoes) amid a string of criticism and controversy over, among other things, the division of roles of Ziegler and Sia’s initial responses to the criticism. The singer was called to reject a neurotypical actress in Ziegler because she used the “special abilities” instead of “disabled”, and for portraying inclined restraint.

Initially, Sia was fickle in her response to the increasingly strong setback, which includes a petition with 17,000 plus signatures calling for the film to be canceled.
Subsequently, she showed remorse for the reaction, and posted that she acknowledged that she ‘was to some extent capable of being; I’m not proud of it ‘, emphasizing:’ I learned my lesson ‘.
The film was nominated for Best Picture, Musical or Comedy, while Kate Hudson nods Best Actress for the portrayal of a woman who suddenly plays her caregiver of her non-verbal autistic sister Music by Ziegler.
Almost immediately after nominations came out, Sia posted a series of tweets that were available about an hour before she completely deleted her Twitter account, according to Variety. Her Instagram account remains active, but these comments are not posted there.

In the first two, Sia wrote: “I promise, have listened. The film MUSIC will, if it moves forward, have this warning at the head of the film: MUSIC does not condense or recommend the use of self-control at all. There is autistic occupational therapists specializing in sensory processing. They may be consulted to provide safe ways to provide proprioceptive, intaglio feedback to fuse safety. ‘
She follows the messages with a two-word message, open to interpretation. “I’m sorry,” she wrote. Whether she meant only for her use of self-control in the film, or for the general reaction to the autistic community’s film, remains unclear.
Regarding the scenes from the film that contain restrictions, Sia posted in an additional tweet: “I plan to remove the control scenes from all future printing,” he explained. “I listened to the wrong people and that is my responsibility. My research was clearly not thorough enough, not broad enough.”
It is also unclear whether the warning about the use of restrictions will be offered before the film, even after the scenes are no longer included. ‘Music’ will be released on February 10 in select IMAX theaters before being made available on request two days later.
