Microsoft has announced that it is renaming Office Lens, a mobile scanning device, to Microsoft Lens. As part of the name change, the app also gets a new logo.
In addition, Microsoft Lens gets new features like Image to Text, Image to Table, Image to Contact, Immersive Reader and QR Code Scan. These features will only come to Android and will be available on iOS in the coming months, Microsoft said.
Microsoft said the update will also include an enhanced scanning experience. Users can now reorder pages, rework scanned PDFs, apply a filter to all images in the document, and scan up to 100 pages as PDF images. The update will also allow users to easily switch between local and cloud locations while saving PDFs, as well as an easy way to identify local files and cloud files.
Microsoft Lens gives the camera power in Microsoft 365 mobile applications, which means you can rely on the app to capture and enhance your documents, photos and videos with the same ease and reliability as the Microsoft Lens app . ‘
Mobile scanning apps are an easy way to scan documents, text, images and more with your phone. This is an excellent alternative compared to using a dedicated machine for which your office does not even have space. And the best part is that a mobile scanning app is always with you, enabling users to digitize important information easily and quickly.
Microsoft strives for Lens as a service that can help users organize and improve productivity at work and at school. For example, you can scan text on a whiteboard and send it to co-workers. Or you can scan a teacher’s handout and save it for later reference. If you’ve invested heavily in Office 365 – or even if you do not – Lens is a great option.
Microsoft Lens requires Android 6.0 and later.
