Dylan McCaffrey moves to Northern Colorado to play for Dad

Dylan McCaffrey is on his way to play for his dad.

The former Michigan quarterback announced on Twitter on Sunday that he is going to Northern Colorado, where his father Ed McCaffrey is the head coach.

Dylan chose the previous season before it started because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He played short in 2018, although he had a broken collarbone that season. He played behind fullback Shea Patterson last year.

Dylan, a former four-star advertiser on Rivals.com, ended his career at the Wolverines with 242 runs and three touchdowns in ten games.

Dylan, who has two more seasons available and can play immediately because he is a graduate transfer, will join his father’s staff for the first season at the Bears.

Ed was appointed in December 2019 in Northern Colorado, replacing Earnest Collins Jr. – who set just a 28-72 record in nine seasons at the helm.

Ed, who spent 13 seasons in the NFL, most of them with the Denver Broncos, normally did not have his first season last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Big Sky Conference decided to move its fall season to spring due to the coronavirus, and then Northern Colorado decided not to participate. The Bears will rather try to keep a customized schedule for non-conferences this spring.

Dylan’s older brother, Christian, has just finished his fourth season with the Carolina Panthers. His younger brother, Luke, has just announced that he is moving out of Nebraska.
