‘Significant’ Nor’easter strives for LI; Snow estimates released

LONG ISLAND, NY – The National Weather Service released its first official snowstorm for a storm early next week. A total of 4-8 inches is expected to accumulate on Long Island.

“There is an increasing potential for a significant winter storm / an easterly late Sunday evening to Tuesday,” the weather service said in a dangerous weather forecast for the region.

The heaviest snow is probably Monday afternoon and evening. The potential for strong winds and coastal floods is also increasing.
