LONG ISLAND, NY – The National Weather Service released its first official snowstorm for a storm early next week. A total of 4-8 inches is expected to accumulate on Long Island.
“There is an increasing potential for a significant winter storm / an easterly late Sunday evening to Tuesday,” the weather service said in a dangerous weather forecast for the region.
The heaviest snow is probably Monday afternoon and evening. The potential for strong winds and coastal floods is also increasing.
Friday evening- Mostly clear, with a minimum of 12. Wind chill values between zero and 5. Northwesterly wind 8 to 18 km / h, with gusts up to 38 km / h.
Saturday- Sunny, with a high almost 27. Wind chill values between zero and 10. Northwest wind 11 to 14 km / h.
Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low point around 12. North wind becomes 5 to 10 mph light after midnight.
Sunday- Mostly cloudy, with a high level of 29. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. North wind becomes about 6 km / h light and variable in the afternoon.
Sunday night – a 50 percent chance of snow, especially after midnight. Cloudy, with a low point around 25. Northeast wind 5 to 15 km / h.
Monday- Snow. High near 33. Windy. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
Monday Night- Snow. Low around 31. Blustery. The chance of precipitation is 80%.
Tuesday- Snow likely, especially before noon. Cloudy, with a peak near 34. Breezy. The chance of precipitation is 60%.
Tuesday night – A 30 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Windy.
Wednesday- Mostly sunny, with a peak near 38.
