A possible snowstorm with strong gusts of wind and a “mixed” snowfall of up to 10 centimeters is on its way to New York City after the bitter cold of the weekend.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm clock for late Sunday to late Monday, with ‘heavy snow possible’ between 6 and 10 centimeters and gusts up to 45 km / h. The snowfall could subside by Tuesday night.

The storm will hit the city, northeast of New Jersey and south of Connecticut, with a coastal flood guard taking effect Monday for Long Island and south of Queens.
NBC News 4 projects a little more snowfall in the city at 8-12 inches of snow.
‘Current projections show how snow moves to New Jersey by (Sunday) noon and arrives at a certain time during the evening or in the city. “It will be cold enough to keep up the snow immediately,” NBC News 4 said.
ABC 7 has warned that this blizzard will be of the “messy” variety, and the National Weather Service says visibility will sometimes be limited.
‘The long duration of the storm will cause the snow to be mixed up and not packed neatly. “Most of the heavy snow will fall on Monday and Monday night, with avalanches of up to one to two centimeters per hour,” ABC 7 said. “The National Weather Service has warned of ‘near snowstorm’ along the coast.”
The storm is the first for this winter season, six weeks after more than a foot of delicious powdery snow fell on December 16, 2020.
Sunday’s snowstorm comes after a polar vortex dropped its teens on Saturday, with temperatures feeling down to -5 degrees, thanks to the ‘coldest air mass of the season’, Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Friday.
“New York is in the midst of another wave of extreme cold, as climate change increasingly requires us to deal with erratic and severe weather, as well as hundred-year-old storms that occur twice a year,” Cuomo said in a statement. “While outdoor activities are an important step in winter in New York, these colds have created a very dangerous situation that will continue for the next day or two. During that time, it is critical for New Yorkers not to just be smart. not, but also to limit their own. household’s exposure to the elements. ‘
Central and southern New Jersey are likely to see more snowfall, possibly more than 10 inches.
