Cuomo involved in ‘criminal corruption scandal’ due to deaths from the coronavirus in the old age home: Stefanik

Rep.Elise Stefanik, RN.Y., said Friday that the Government of New York, Andrew Cuomo. has been embroiled in a ‘criminal corruption scandal’ over the under-counting of COVID-19 deaths in his state.

In an interview with The Story, Stefanik said lawmakers in New York should hold Cuomo accountable for what the Attorney General claims to be an important report on the number of New Yorkers living in nursing homes. Cuomo, D., at the time defended his policy as the next federal guideline, but officials said the guideline requires strict standards for nursing homes to accept coronavirus-positive patients.

“This is the governor who pointed the finger at everyone. He pointed the finger at President Trump. He pointed the finger at the elderly themselves, at the nursing homes, and basically blamed everyone but himself,” Stefanik said.

Stefanik also exploded especially the media and CNN because of its coverage of Cuomo, whose brother Chris Cuomo is a first anchor and conducted numerous, friendly interviews with the governor when the pandemic struck for the first time.

“It’s a shame that CNN allows Chris Cuomo to just invite his brother and do those ridiculous interviews. It’s an embarrassment to the media,” she said.

REP. ELISE STEFANIK: “This is the governor who pointed the finger at everyone. He pointed the finger at President Trump. He pointed the finger at the elderly themselves, at the nursing homes, and basically blames everyone but himself. In terms of the next federal leadership it is very clear that Governor Cuomo has taken the decision to present his executive order on March 25 requiring nursing homes to accept positive COVID patients, regardless of their ability to isolate those patients and have proper personal protection …

My mind is that this governor has been avoiding the truth for months and months and months. The reason why this is a criminal corruption scandal and not just a nursing home scandal is that they have known for months what the true count of deaths in nursing homes is. [was], whether it was in a hospital of a nursing home, or an individual who died in the nursing home, and they withheld it from the public … Summonses must be issued immediately. Both Democrats and Republicans in the State Senate and State Assembly agreed …

The tone is wrong. Journalists did not do their job. They dispute Governor Cuomo. They did not speak to everyday New Yorkers who suffered under his failed leadership, and most importantly, they did not speak to New Yorkers who were proponents, who lost loved ones because of the governor’s failed nursing home policy. It’s a shame that CNN allows Chris Cuomo to just invite his brother and do those ridiculously flawed interviews. This is now an embarrassment to the media. “
