The home of the Boston Red Sox is ready to host something new: a site for COVID-19 vaccinations.
Earlier this month, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker announced that Fenway Park would be a mass vaccination facility from Feb. 1 – the second of its kind after Gillette Stadium was launched as a vaccination facility on Jan. 18. The Fenway website is operated by Cambridge-based health technology company CIC Health.
“Mass vaccination sites such as Fenway Park are critical to the distribution of vaccines in our state – they provide thousands of residents with easy, safe and efficient access,” Baker said in a statement. “Our government, which has joined the Gillette Stadium, is very grateful to our hometown sports teams for acting to support the Commonwealth during the pandemic. We thank the Red Sox and CIC Health for their partnership, and look forward to opening more massive vaccination sites soon. ”
Here’s what Fenway Park looks like now.
