Ninja Theory says no more content updates for online fighter Bleeding Edge • Eurogamer.net

Less than a year after launch.

It’s just less than a year since Hellblade developer Ninja Theory released its team-based multiplayer effort, Bleeding Edge, but the studio is already calling for development and announces that there will be no content updates from today.

Bleeding Edge, which was released on Xbox One and a PC in March, was spotted as a turbulent mix of a nearby third-person action and a class-based 4v4 multiplayer. As Wesley Yin-Poole of Eurogamer put it in his review: ‘The fight is about good enough to get away with it for now, but without a meaningful update I’ll probably lose interest sooner rather than later.’

These updates do come, but only sporadically, with Bleeding Edge’s last major addition arriving last year in the form of the new character Azrael. A quick look at SteamCharts shows that the stream has been tumbling ever since, with the number of players peeping barely above 30 over the past few months. If the trend is reflected elsewhere, it is understandable why Ninja Theory prefers to attract further content updates.

The announcement of the news on Twitter, the developer linked his decision to the fact that he ‘now focuses on our new projects (Senua’s Saga, Project Mara and The Insight Project)’, but noted that Bleeding Edge will still remain playable on Xbox and PC.

“Thank you so much to the fans,” it concludes, “keep working together and cause chaos!”
