CNN anchor Chris Cuomo turned a blind eye to the growing political scandal that plagued his brother, New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, on Thursday night.
One of the biggest news stories of the day comes from a report released by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The report revealed that the state Department of Health underreported COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes by as much as 50%.
Cuomo directed elderly people to nursing homes in the Empire State to accept patients who had COVID-19 or were suspected of it. The decision was blamed for creating an onslaught of COVID-19 cases that infected thousands of elderly patients and resulted in hundreds of deaths among the state’s most vulnerable population. The governor eventually reversed the decision, but not before thousands died of COVID-19 in nursing homes in New York.
FEEDBACK: MEDIA INTENDED ON CUOMO’S ‘LEADERSHIP’ DURING PURCHASED AS NY NURSING SCANDAL USED
While the controversy began last spring, many of the mainstream media not only offered minimal to zero coverage of Cuomo’s bad policies, but the governor was widely praised for his ‘leadership’ in responding to the pandemic.
The Democratic governor became a regular guest on ‘Cuomo Prime Time’, where he and his CNN host brother would bother each other on physical appearance and fight over their mother’s love.
Instead of punching his brother with difficult questions about his nursing home policy, the CNN anchor kept him busy with record comedy by using giant cotton swabs to pluck the size of his brother’s nose after a nasal COVID test.
However, after months of avoiding the subject and nearly a dozen one-on-one appearances in his show, Cuomo finally attracted a softball to this brother.
FEEDBACK: CNN’S CHRIS CUOMO GOOFED ROUND WITH BROTHER, CANNOT ASK GOVERNOR ABOUT NY NURSING DEATHS
“Nursing homes. People are dead there, they don’t have to, it’s been mismanaged and the operators have been granted immunity. What do you have to say about that?” asked the CNN anchor.
“Several statements that are not correct, but it’s OK. It’s your show, you say whatever you want to say,” Governor Cuomo responded jokingly before not accepting responsibility.
During the same interview, Cuomo of CNN admitted to his viewers “Of course I’m not objective” while expressing his love for his brother.
“I hope you are able to appreciate what you have done in your state and what it means now for the rest of the country. I am fascinated by what you have done, and, more importantly, how you have done it, Chris Cuomo told the governor.
While other CNN anchors have drawn attention to the Cuomo scandal, it appears that Chris Cillizza, editor-in-chief of CNN, has no self-awareness with his’ analysis’, declaring on Twitter that the ‘Andrew Cuomo Covid-19 story today got a big hit ‘and the governor’s’ performance’ was perhaps less stellar than it seemed. ‘

‘If Donald Trump is seen as the public face of the government’s failed response to the coronavirus pandemic, Andrew Cuomo is seen by some as the opposite – a politician who understands the myriad challenges Covid-19 has created and move quickly to address it in the most transparent way possible … Well, it seems that all the hype has obscured a disturbing reality, ‘Cillizza wrote. “There’s a lot we do not know yet. But here’s something we do know: must [NY AG] According to James’ report, it will cause a serious investigation into Cuomo’s performance during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. ‘
Cillizza’s analysis was panned on social media with critics pointing out that months ago there had been reports of Cuomo’s nursing home policies and how stores like CNN chose to overlook them.
