Weather in NYC: Sub Zero Chill, then 6 inches of snow is forecast

A warning of dangerous weather issued Thursday warns New York City of a very cold, then extraordinary snowfall over the next few days.

Windy northwest winds along with a cold Arctic air mass on Thursday night will reduce the cooling of the wind to 0 to 5 below, warns the National Weather Service.

The temperature will remain in the 20s on Friday and Saturday, before reaching a high of 33 on Sunday. But do not rejoice yet, warns the national weather service forecast.

“There is a possibility for a coastal storm to bring 6 or more centimeters of snow into the area late Sunday night,” reads the warning for dangerous weather. “There are also strong northeasterly winds, coastal floods and beach erosion possible. At the moment, there is still a great deal of uncertainty with the low track and timing to determine specifically with details.”
