BREAK: UK tension over COVID-19 detected in Orange County, Florida

The Orlando Sentinel has just announced that a new type of COVID-19 has been found in Orange County, Florida, where Walt Disney World Resort is located.

The strain is called B.1.1.7 and was first found in the United Kingdom. This strain is linked to more than 300 Covid-19 cases in the USA

The British tribe, and possibly others of it, pose greater danger because they are easier to transmit than others and can increase case loads, hospitalizations and eventually deaths. The CDC said it was projecting the mutation to become the predominant strain of the virus.

So far, Covid-19 vaccines appear to be protected against this new strain.

With the CDC’s latest update, Florida and California each found 92 cases of the strain, more than any other state.
