The next-generation Division 2 update comes next week with improved resolutions and performance for PS5 and Xbox Series X players.
Johan Lindholm, community manager of Ubisoft, confirmed on his Twitter account that the update will take place on February 2 and together with the crossover event to celebrate Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary. Title update 12.1 will provide support for 4K and 60 frames per second for players on next-generation consoles – probably specifically PS5 and Xbox Series X, though Xbox Series S is also likely to benefit from the increased frame rate.
No state of the game tomorrow. TU12.1 will be released on February 2 with the Resident Evil Apparel Event, a rebalance of Optimization Station costs as well as 4K 60 FPS support for upcoming consoles.26 January 2021
When Ubisoft first announced the plans in December, Ubisoft let players know in advance that they should not expect a fully optimized next-generation experience from this update; it may not take advantage of all the consoles’ new features or significantly improve the appearance of individual assets, but there is still much to be said for higher resolutions and smoother frame rates.
The update is also set to balance the cost of the Optimization Station. The recurring feature of the first Division match arrived in Title Update 12 in December, which allowed players to improve properties for individual pieces to their maximum value (which can be a huge time saver, though very resource intensive). It seems like we’ll have to wait to see how much rebalancing changes the cost of using the station.
Either way, you have plenty of reason to play next week as soon as you can start unlocking Resident Evil skins and weapons during the two-week event.
It’s good to know that The Division is just as excited about this. Resident Evil 8 as we are.
