A new Warner Bros. sis for 2021 features the first footage of Clint Eastwood in ‘Cry Macho’ and Will Smith in ‘King Richard’.
AT&T claims that the hybrid release of ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ over Christmas helped HBO Max double its activation to 17.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2020, which the streamer may well promise, as ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is just the beginning of his controversial HBO. Max release model. Every Warner Bros. film that hits the studio in the 2021 studio will be released in theaters on the same day and will be available on HBO Max for 31 days. Warner Bros. is working on the release model with a 2021 digit roll full of new footage from more than a dozen major versions.
Included in the Warner Bros. 2021 trailer is footage from David Chase’s highly anticipated “Sopranos” feature film “The Many Saints of Newark”, which recently delayed the studio from March 24 to September 20, 2021. Alessandro Nivola plays the role of Dickie Moltisanti, father of Christopher Moltisanti (Michael Imperioli) from the original HBO series, but it’s the young Tony Soprano who is front and center in the trailer recordings (see picture above). Young Tony is played by Michael Gandolfini, son of the late Tony Soprano actor James Gandolfini.
In a recent interview with Variety, actor John Magaro of “Many Saints” recalls meeting Chase for a role in the film and finding out that the creator of “Sopranos” is the son of James Gandolfini in his father’s iconic role threw. “I said, ‘No,'” Magaro recalled. ‘And he said he came in [and] auditioned, and it’s scary how not only their looks but also manners look. He is also a fantastic actor. ”
The Warner Bros. 2021 sizzle also features footage from James Wan’s original horror film “Malignant” (now dated September 10) and the third produced “Conjuring” film titled the Wan production, titled “The Devil Made Me Do It.” Footage from Clint Eastwood’s new film “Cry Macho” is also briefly viewed, as well as Will Smith’s first appearance in “King Richard”, in which he plays as Venus and Serena Williams’ father and tennis coach.
The 2021 sis also features plenty of previously seen footage from Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune”, which means the tent pole is still on its way to HBO Max despite criticism from Villeneuve himself over the decision. Legendary, the studio behind “Dune”, recently agreed to allow co-World Cup title “Godzilla vs. Kong” to stream on HBO Max, but Villeneuve was determined to release only “Dune” in theaters, and says a move to HBO Max could ‘kill the franchise’.
No recordings of “The Matrix 4” were included, but a title card confirms that the sequel is also still set for a 2021 theater HBO Max rollout. THR reported earlier this month that Matrix filmmaker Lana Wachowski was also upset about moving her film to HBO Max.
