Severe weather on Monday night left significant storm damage across the city of Fultondale.
Fultondale police chief DP Smith said there were fallen trees and overturned cars in the Walker Chapel, Indian Valley Road and Carson Road areas.
It is unknown at this time what he did to cause the injuries.
Dave Moerbe, senior pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gardendale and his son, 18-year-old Sam, rushed to their old neighborhood in Fultondale when they heard of the devastation there.
The area – Georgetown Lane – is close to Black Creek Park.
The Moerbe family lived there until about a year ago.
“It looks like a bomb went off,” Sam said.
He said about 80 percent of the homes in the area had roof damage, and about 20 percent of them collapsed.
Dad and son overturned all the trees in Black Creek Park and cars were moved around if not overturned.
“It’s just devastating,” said Dave Moerbe.
‘There are 45 homes in this community that are all causing damage. “Litter is everywhere,” he said. “We pulled one lady out the back window because she could not get out.”
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said a confirmed tornado from Fultondale was in the direction of the Center Point area.
According to the Jefferson County EMA, there is storm damage to the land that stretches from Fultondale to Center Point.
The NWS encouraged Alabamians to receive overnight weather warnings.
