The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 1,795 new cases of the coronavirus on Sunday, January 24, increasing the cumulative total in the country to 223,288 cases since the detection began.
On Sunday, 13 new deaths were reported across the country, increasing the total number of deaths to 2,638.
The data on deaths in the country are compiled from death certificates or collected through the course of case investigations and it can take weeks to process. The most recent death was recorded on January 13th.
The province also reported 1,732 patients in local hospitals, which is 86 fewer than the previous report. On Sunday, 467 patients were listed in intensive care units.
It is estimated that 31,427 cases of the virus have been recorded in Orange County in the past 14 days.
According to the provincial update, 2,560,248 tests for the coronavirus have been given since its inception locally, with at least 15,466 new tests since the previous report.
Of the cumulative 2,638 deaths reported due to the virus, 787 were competent residents of nursing homes, 285 in care facilities, one was a prisoner in the OC and four were listed as homeless.
The province’s distribution of deaths by age is as follows:
- 85 and older: 34.46% (909, higher 6)
- 75-84: 22.67% (598, higher 1)
- 65-74: 19.18% (506, higher 2)
- 55-64: 13.27% (350, higher 4)
- 45-54: 6.86% (181)
- 35-44: 2.12% (56)
- 25-34: 1.21% (32, higher 1)
- 18-24: 0.19% (5)
- 17 and younger: 0.04% (1)
It is estimated that about 153,862 people have recovered from the virus since Sunday. The number of people who recovered is based on the previous cumulative case of 28 days.
The data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials stressed. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.

Vaccines administered from 17 January
The California Department of Public Health shows a total of 3,226,775 doses of vaccine, including the first and second doses, were sent to local health departments and health care systems from Jan. 17.
The total vaccines administered in six different regions are on the charts below. On January 17, a total of 1,393,224 vaccine doses were administered across the country. This is an increase of 609,748 in the January 11 report. The state warns that the numbers do not represent real daily changes, as reporting may be delayed.
