PARMA, Ohio – Grandson Frank Jackson, Mayor Frank Q. Jackson, was pursued in custody at Parma Prison on Sunday after an overnight police officer who came to a traffic stop in which a Parma police officer was pulled, according to a police prosecution.
The incident began shortly after midnight Sunday when 24-year-old Frank Q. Jackson was pulled over in Parma, department spokesman Lt. Dan Ciryak, said. He was pulled down because the tint on his windows was too dark.
During the stop, a Parma police officer asked Jackson to get out of the vehicle after Jackson agreed to a search for a vehicle, a Parma police news release said. Two Parma police officers were trying to pull Jackson out of the vehicle when Jackson – still inside – stepped on the gas and started getting away.
One of the patrol officers was still holding Jackson and running with the car before releasing the driver, the news release read. The initial reports that the officer was dragged were inaccurate, Ciryak said and the officer was not seriously injured.
Police in Parma chased Jackson’s car on the highway after he stopped driving from traffic, Ciryak said. The highway chase, which reached speeds of more than 100 km / h, ended when Jackson walked off Interstate 90 westward onto Lorain Road, the news release said.
Jackson was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the incident. He handed himself over to Parma police just before 3am, the news release read, and he remains in Parma prison.
Parma police plan to release a video of the incident as soon as the ‘routine retrenchment process’ takes place, Ciryak said. Video footage will not be released on Sunday.
According to court documents, Jackson was charged in the Cleveland Municipal Court last week with first-class misconduct in the municipal court.
According to a warrant issued Wednesday, Frank Q. Jackson “deliberately caused or attempted to seduce the mother of his child.” He is accused of hitting his child’s mother several times in the head and ‘causing her to hit the couch and fall to the floor’, the warrant reads.
Frank Q. Jackson’s legal problems extend even further than his recent run-up to government. In January 2020, he was sentenced to 90 days in prison and 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to assault in a case where an 18-year-old woman reportedly punched and kicked her before beating her in June with hit a metal truck. 2019. He served eight days as a judge and suspended 82 days from jail time.
The mayor’s office issued a statement on January 5 stating that an outside agency would deal with his grandson’s latest problem with the law.
