CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. Highball team Cosby High School mourns the loss of player Steele Kirwan, who died after a long battle with cancer.
The Cosby senior jersey was placed on the baseball field in his honor on Saturday afternoon.
The baseball team remembered the teenager as a ‘great teammate, child, young man and friend’.
The team said Kirwan is a ‘fighter like no other’ who made them stronger and learned to never take anything for granted.
Today we lost one of the most difficult children I have ever had. He was a fighter like no other who made us all stronger and learned to never take anything for granted. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Cosby baseball will be Steele Strong forever! pic.twitter.com/XNxClqwH7k

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,” the team coach wrote. “Cosby baseball will be Steele Strong forever!”
Kirwan’s father said his son was his hero and his best friend.
The family asks that you keep it in your prayers. However, they demanded that no one gather at the high school because of the pandemic.
