The positive percentage of seven days continues with the downward trend as 91 more were hospitalized with COVID-19

MADISON, Wis. The positive seven-day rate in Wisconsin for new COVID-19 cases has been steadily declining since early January.

Both the seven-day positivity rate for new tests per person and the seven-day equivalent for the total tests per day have declined steadily since January. The seven-day positivity rate for new tests per person increased by seven tenths of a percentage point while the seven-day equivalent for the total tests per day decreased by six tenths of a percentage point compared to Thursday numbers.

While the daily positivity rate has declined, hospitalizations are still ongoing daily. An additional 91 Wisconsinites were admitted to the hospital within the past 24 hours, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. That is about double the number of hospitalizations reported on Thursday.

State and local health officials on Friday confirmed an additional 2,075 * new COVID-19 cases, bringing the state’s life expectancy to 530,524 *. Health officials also reported another 34 deaths on Friday, bringing the COVID-19 death rate to 5,734 *.

A total of 56,680 Wisconsinites have now completed their COVID-19 vaccinations. This is just under 1% of the population of the entire state.

To date, health professionals have administered 310,256 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 779,800 doses have been administered to Wisconsin since vaccinations began in December. Another 473,300 doses were ordered, of which 100,000 were in transport from Friday afternoon.

As the explosion of vaccines continues, state health officials are asking for patience as the demand for vaccine significantly exceeds the current supply.
