YouTube bans German channel spreading false information

BERLIN (AP) – Google says it has banned a prominent German user of its YouTube video platform from repeatedly making false allegations about the coronavirus outbreak.

Google said on Friday that a YouTube channel known as KenFM is no longer available and that the person running it is not allowed to start another.

“We have a long policy of community guidelines that strikes be issued when our systems are notified of a policy violation of the rules of conduct on YouTube,” the company said in a statement.

“Videos on the KenFM channel violate our COVID-19 policy and the channel was removed from YouTube after receiving the third strike for a video in 90 days on November 19, 2020.”

KenFM was run by Ken Jebsen, a former journalist fired by German public broadcaster RBB after the anti-Semitic comments he made came to light.

YouTube and others have promised to curb the spread of coronavirus information by users of their sites.
