A new report today from iPhoneSoft claims that it has details on which devices Apple intends to abandon support with iOS 15. The information especially includes a preview report we saw late last year, which indicates that the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, original iPhone SE will be on the hood.
French publication iPhoneSoft says that the information comes from Apple (via Apple Translate):
Here’s a first list of Apple devices that will be hosting the iOS 15 beta in June next year, which is once again available from our developer friend at Apple, and especially the Plans app.
At this point, it looks like Apple is planning to drop support for iPhones with A9 chips and earlier. While this may not be a major issue for many, the iPhone 6s are still very popular in resale markets.
The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus were originally launched in September 2015, with the iPhone SE landing in March 2016. These devices were very popular and received more than four years of software updates from Apple.
